In both Performance Tuning and Testing, CPT has developed its own specialised tools that seek to automate as much of the activity as possible. Our tools also let us carry forward the knowledge gained from each engagement and apply it to new engagements in the future.

Two of our most important tools are Expetune and Expetest

• Expetune is a stand-alone suite of tools designed to help users audit, tune and monitor mainframe systems running on an MVS-OS/390 platform. It’s useful in auditing and performance reporting and also has a feature that allows it to work with Compuware’s Strobe® performance analyser. Proper application of Expetune will reduce CPU usage and potentially defer costly machine upgrades. On-line response and batch turnaround times are improved and DASD requirements are reduced. That increases end-user satisfaction as well as the productivity of development and support resources.

• Expetest is a unique test coverage and audit tool. It can identify any system components that have been tested, have not been tested or may need to be retested because of changes to the environment. Expetest gives a testing team invaluable information for tracking and monitoring the testing process with controlled test sampling. It provides enormous benefit for testing prior to, during and following the implementation of new applications or the installation of upgrades to existing applications.
